A Guide to Popular Summer Coffee Drinks

It’s hot, and you’re craving a cold, refreshing beverage – right now! Sure, you can dump an espresso over ice and enjoy it immediately, but if you plan ahead and fix yourself a batch of cold brew, you’ve got the base for some lovely summer sipping.

Cold Brew Recipe for French Press

We recommend the French Press method because immersion brewing is the simplest way to make cold brew. The cold brew process reduces much of the acidity in a coffee, and it will last for a week when refrigerated.

Five Super Easy Summer Recipes for Cold Brew Coffee

  • Cold Brew Tonic

2 parts tonic water to 1 part cold brew over ice. Add a lime wedge or a few blackberries.
  • Dirty Chai Latte

Soak a chai tea bag in ½ cup of boiling water, let it cool. Add ¼ cup cold brew, add milk or oat milk, 1 tsp. of honey, stir and pour over ice.
  • Cold Brew Lemonade

1 cup of cold brew, ½ cup orange juice, 1/3 cup lemon juice, 1 tsp. of honey or sugar, 1 cup of ice. Shake vigorously in a sealed jar or cocktail shaker.
  • Caffe Shakerato

This Italian summer staple is a short and sweet refresher. Mix 2 ounces of cold brew with 1 tsp. of sugar in a cocktail shaker until sugar dissolves. Add ice and shake hard for about 30 seconds—strain into a chilled wine or martini glass.
  • Lavender Iced Coffee

Start by simmering ½ tsp. of dried lavender buds in 2 cups of sugar and 1 cup of water. Strain to remove the bits of lavender once the sugar dissolves, and you’ve got yourself a batch of simple lavender syrup that will keep in the fridge for up to two weeks. Just 2 tbsp. of the syrup mixed with cold brew and poured over ice results in summer in a glass! It also works for an iced latte with your choice of milk.

Keeping it cool and caffeinated is the goal this summer! We would love to know what kind of cold coffee treats you’re into; please share!
